Registration |
| At what age can my child start participation in CSI Soccer? |
| Your child must be 4 years of age by September 1. See League Guidelines |
| I registered on time but I have not heard from my child's coach. Who should I contact? |
| All coaches are encouraged to call their players ASAP. If you haven't received your call yet, contact the League Commissioner for your child's league. |
| I registered late and my child was not placed on a team. Why? |
| We try to accommodate everyone and we would love for every child to have the oppurtunity to play soccer in Carbondale. However, we make every effort to keep the teams balanced and fair. At a certain point, we have to cut off all new applications just because all teams have been filled and cannot fairly accept any more players. |
| Is is too late to register my child for this soccer season? |
| Check the required registration dates on our website. We encourage everyone to register, even if the deadline has passed. However the longer you wait to register the less chance your child has of being placed on a team. |
| I've moved and left a forwarding address with the post office. Why did I not receive a registration form this season? |
| The postal service will not forward our forms, however you may pick up a form at the Carbondale Public Library or the LIFE Community Center. You may also register online here. |
| Will my child be involved in any fundraiser? |
| Believe it or not the answer is NO! CSI does host a fall tournament each year that is held the last weekend in October. We do ask for parent volunteers to help work the tournament. The tournament generates enough revenue for the organization that we can keep our fees incredibly low and not ask our players to raise money. |

Games |
| How long is this season? |
| The season runs for seven weeks and most teams will play eight games. The pre-instructional and instructional leagues play eight games and run for eight weeks. |
| When are games played? |
| We try to schedule as many games possible for Saturday morning (between 8am-1pm). All teams above the Instructional level will have one weeknight game. In addition, rainouts may be rescheduled on a weeknight depending on the number of teams and field availability. |
| Where are the games played? |
Alll games in all leagues are played at the Carbondale Superblock sports complex.
The entrance to the Superblock is located at the east side of the intersection of Lewis Lane & College Street.
| What is the required amount of time that my child should play each game? |
| Our rules state that each player must play 50% of time during regular season games. Remember, CSI is recreational soccer. |
| Why is there no playoff at the end of the season to determine the best team? |
| CSI was formed as a recreational soccer program. We do play games and everyone wants to win. However, our mission is to grow the sport of soccer and encourage soccer development, fair play and sportsmanship. |
| The weather looks bad, is my game being played today? |
| The decision to cancel games will be made 30 minutes prior to the start of each game. Check our website for any cancellations. |
| It is raining! Why are games being played? |
| Games will be played during light to moderate rain showers. However, if lightning is detected, games will most likely be cancelled or delayed 30 minutes until the lightning has passed. |
| My games were cancelled because of bad weather. Will the games be rescheduled? |
| Most likely, yes. If time and field availability permits, all games will be rescheduled. Check this website or talk to your coach. |

Practices |
| How often are practices? |
CSI encourages all coaches in leagues above Instructional to have one practice a week. Pre-Instructional and Instructional leagues generally practice for the first 30 minutes of their Saturday morning time, and play soccer for the second 30 minutes.
Practices for all other leagues are generally held during the week in the early evening hours (after 5:00 pm) and usually last for about an hour. Speak to your coach for more specifics. |
| Where will my team have practices? |
| Practices will typically be held at the Superblock, but may be held at other locations such as Parrish Park. Your coach will determine and advise you of practice locations. |
Uniforms |
| Does my child need any special equipment to play soccer? |
Every player is required to provide and wear shin guards. A player may not practice or play in any game without them. We encourage players to wear cleats but they are not required. Softball and Baseball cleats are not allowed. Softball and Baseball cleats have an additional single cleat at the toe, and are dangerous to play soccer with.
In addition your coach may ask each player to bring a soccer ball to each practice. You will also want to send a water bottle with your child to each practice and game so they stay properly hydrated.

| I missed the uniform distribution, how can I get a uniform fo rmy child? |
| Coaches distribute uniforms. You may contact the Uniform Officer. |
| I have a uniform that I forgot to turn in from a prior season. How do I return it? |

| No. Children in these leagues receive t-shirt that they get to keep. Your coach will distribute the t-shirts. Coaches must go to the uniform distribution to get their team t-shirts. |

Pre-Instructional/Intructional |
| At what age can my child start participating in CSI Soccer? |
| Your child must be 4 years of age by September 1. See League Guidelines |
| My child will turn 4 shortly after the Sept. 1 cutoff. Can he/she sign up and play in the pre-instructional league? |
| Unfortunately not. Age cutoffs have to be used to ensure fair play and mostly for liability reason. |
| What is the format of practice and play for the pre-instructional and instructional leagues? |
| The pre-instructional and instructional leagues are just that - instructional. These leagues are designed to get your child acclimated to the sport of soccer, teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play. At this level all practices and games occur on the same day, generally Saturday morning. The first half-hour is designed for practice. During this time your child's coach will conduct several drills to develop your child's skills. More than likely, the parents are asked to participate and assist their child. The second half-hour is for game play. Generally, 4 players play at a time from each team. Coaches from each team are on the field at all times with your child giving instruction and encouragement. No score is kept and the level of play is set at fun! Parents are encouraged to cheer for ALL players from both teams - even when the other team scores. |
| My child is playing in the pre-instructional or instructional league. Do I have to go to the uniform distribution to get his/her uniform? |
| No. Children in these leagues receive t-shirt that they get to keep. Your coach will distribute the t-shirts. Coaches in these leagues must go to the uniform distribution to get their team t-shirts. |

Referee |
I would like to referee for CSI. Who should I contact? |
| Contact our Referee Official. |
| The referee at my child's game made several bad calls. How can I complain? |
| Most of our referees are young adults but CSI does require all of our referees to be certified. As with any sport there will be, or what might appear to be, a bad call from time-to-time. Under no circumstance is a parent, coach or even player permitted to abuse, verbally or physically, any of the referees. Any abuse will not be tolerated. If you feel a referee's performance or conduct is in doubt, wait until the game has ended and report the incident, calmly, to your coach, League Commissioner or our Officials Officer. All of our referees are reviewed from time-to-time by our Officials Officer and corrections for improvement are made when deemed appropriate. Input from coaches and parents (calm and rational input) are taken seriously and reviewed by the appropriate board members. |
| I see that CSI requires all referee's to be certified. How do I get certified? |
| Certification classes are offered several times a year in Southern Illinois. The Carbondale class has traditionally been held in January. The class is two full days for new referees and one day for re-certification. See Referee. |

Competitive Soccer |
| My child really enjoys playing soccer and wants to play competitive play and more training. Does CSI offer this? |
| CSI promotes summer soccer camps that teach more soccer skills. However, CSI is designed as a recreational sport that encourages children to learn more about the sport and to enjoy the experience of playing soccer. CSI is non-competitive. If your child wants year round competitive play and training visit SISL (Southern Illinois Soccer League), Southern Illinois Soccer Club, SI United Youth Soccer Club or Indoor Soccer-Sports Blast. |
