Tuesday June 5, Competitive Soccer Tryout Update

Dear Soccer Families-

While many of you are currently and have played soccer in the CSI system, we wanted to let you know about a new era coming to Carbondale Soccer.

Just as we successfully launched an indoor soccer league in 2016 that has had over 500 players, growing to three seasons per year, we are now starting a competitive soccer division!

CSI is doing this new competitive division at the request of CSI families who want to remain with our program, but grow as competitive soccer players.

Because of this new effort, we as an organization are hosting Competitive Soccer Tryouts on Tuesday, June 5 at the Superblock from 6PM-730PM. If you have a child or know of a child, girl or boy 2010 birthyear or older we have an opportunity for them.

CSI's competitive program will be affordable, transparent and family friendly.

If your child has any interest in playing more competitive soccer, we have the programing and the institutional experience to make it a family friendly part of CSI. We have a plan with options for this endeavor and all your questions will be answered. We are drawing on talented licensed coaches within and outside of CSI to make this successful.

This will not be easy training or play, but it will be family friendly. The creation of this division is a long term strategy to help make all players in southern Illinois better soccer players for their eventual high school soccer programs. We at CSI do not care where your child is from, what we do care about is your family's ability to balance soccer and family without a financial or time burden.

To play competitive soccer we must play in a St. Louis area league called the St. Louis Youth Soccer Association (SLYSA). This league has over a thousand plus teams. We must also play in St. Louis based club tournaments such as Lou Fusz, Rush, Sporting Kanas City, Legacy, Gallagher, etc.

Remember though, this endeavor is first about training and playing at higher levels of soccer. If you will put in attendance and your child the training work consistently, the child will then, as a player and part of a team earn their medals. If you and they do neither, then your outcomes will not be rewarding.

If your child has other interests other than soccer that will impact training twice and three times per week, we are not your program. After tryouts, CSI would rather form only one great team with committed players and families than have ten mediocre teams where only half the players and families are committed. We have witnessed the negative impact that has on players and families before. Together we will determine the best path for CSI and your family and child, but it will not be at the detriment to either.

Additionally, we want to emphasize that none of the competitive playing for CSI will interfere with your child playing in our regular games at CSI or your own hometown recreation program.

In fact this competitive soccer division will enhance your families opportunities, as we will play competitive soccer that doesn't drag out for months on end.

To learn more, please consider bringing your child and your questions to the Competitive Soccer Tryouts on Tuesday, June 5 from 6pm-730pm at the Superblock.

Your child will need to bring shin guards, water bottle, soccer ball and cleats.

Thank you,

CSI
